Continuing school wasn't even an option for me because I had to work to help my family get by. I never even received a high school diploma and have been working full-time since I was a teenager. It's hard to find a good paying job, so I have to make things work on minimum wage, most of which goes directly to helping my family with rent.

I just don't get why the state continues to build houses nobody can afford when we need more rental apartments available to families like us.

It's pretty tight living in a two bedroom apartment with all five of us and as I get older I just want to be able to live on my own but it seems that will never be an option for me. Without my paycheck, my family probably wouldn't be able to stay where they are. I just don't get why the state continues to build “affordable” houses that nobody can afford when we need more options available for families like us.
